Pediatric Eye Exams

Healthy eye function in your child is essential for visual development, physical coordination, and overall balance. But children don’t always communicate when there is a problem. That’s where the need for a routine pediatric eye exam is important.

Pediatric Comprehensive Eye Exams

Comprehensive pediatric eye evaluations are crucial in revealing potential vision problems, which can interfere with a child’s learning development. During a complete eye exam, the pediatric optometrist will monitor your child’s vision, overall eye health and determine any need for a prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses.  The exam includes tests for binocularity, refractive error, color vision, acuity, and overall eye health.

We’ll gladly help you protect your child’s vision.  Contact King and Rose Optical to schedule a pediatric eye exam today.

Pediatric Glasses and Contact Lenses

During an eye exam, our optometrist will look for any conditions your child may have and offer treatments to help overcome vision issues including vision correction with glasses and contact lenses.

Contact lenses provide the next best thing to natural, clear vision, and they’re an excellent choice for many older children and teens.

Our pediatric optometrists provide contact lens fittings, prescriptions, and examinations. To assess if your child is a good candidate for contact lenses, the first step is to schedule a routine eye exam.  Most children start wearing contact lenses at 8-12 years old.

Additionally, as more and more of children’s time is spent in front of digital screens, new health concerns are arising. So much screentime often leads to digital eye strain. Protect your child’s eyes from digital screens and harmful blue light with blue light blocking glasses.

Pediatric Preventative Eye Care

During a child’s early years, it’s crucial to care for their eyes, which are rapidly growing and developing. Diagnosing eye problems early can help minimize potential damage and makes treatment faster and more effective. Some eye conditions cause little to no pain and can progress silently with substantial loss of visual function later in life. King & Rose optical team is equipped with state-of-the art diagnostic equipment to help detect, monitor, and treat pediatric eye issues.

Conditions such as refractive errors, amblyopia, nystagmus, strabismus, astigmatism, double vision, pink eye, and styes are examples of the full range of eye conditions the team addresses with expertise.

Pediatric eye infections and injuries

Depending on the severity, an eye injury and/or infection can seriously impact your child’s vision. Infections can escalate and vision changes can happen quickly with injuries, therefore it is important to be evaluated by an optometrist. Some common infections and injuries include: cut or scratch of the eye or eyelid, bruises of the eyelid, subconjunctival hemorrhage, corneal abrasion, eye trauma, red or painful eyes, itchy or irritated eyes.

These are signs that an immediate evaluation or consultation is necessary.

We’ll gladly help you protect your child’s vision.
